Renaud Soler is a lecturer in Islamic Studies at the University of Strasbourg. His work focuses on Islam in the modern and contemporary era. In 2021, he defended a thesis entitled “A history of the sīra in the Ottoman era (15th-19th centuries). Production and forms of historical knowledge about the life of the Prophet Muhammad.” It will be published by Presses Universitaires de France in 2027 in two volumes. After working on the Ottoman Empire and its Arab provinces, Renaud Soler is embarking on a research project on the cult of relics in modern and contemporary Islam, with the aim of integrating Mughal India into his research framework.
