Globalisation and Regulation


Julien Chaisse is Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Director of the university's Centre for Financial Regulation and Economic Development (CFRED). He has authored a broad body of well-regarded and widely-cited articles on topics ranging from the rise of sovereign wealth funds, the regulation of investment in Asia to decision-making challenges facing the WTO. Prof. Chaisse has published in top refereed journals, such as the Journal of International Economic Law, Journal of World Trade, European Law Journal and Journal of World Investment and Trade, as well as in U.S. international law journals. Prof. Chaisse is also the author and editor of books and book chapters published by leading publishers, such as Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press and Routledge. In recognition of his outstanding scholarly achievements to date, in 2012 Prof. Chaisse received the CUHK Research Excellence Award.

Prof. Chaisse currently sits on the Steering Committee of the European Union Academic Programme Hong Kong (EUAP), which gathers policy expertise and conducts research on issues relevant to both Hong Kong and the European Union, such as sustainable development in global cities/regions and non-traditional regional security and post-sovereign governance. He is also an active member of renowned organizations, such as the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL), the UNCTAD World Investment Network, the Association for International Arbitration (AIA), the European China Law Studies Association (ECLS), the European Society of International Law (ESIL) Interest Group ‘EU as a Global Actor’, and the Asian WTO Research Network (AWRN).
